摄影师林舒从2017年开始关注于对塔的拍摄。

专门或借由工作的间隙跑遍大江南北，寻觅拍摄各地的古塔。对于他而言，这个过程也是一个反思与重新认识摄影的过程，在他所追寻的摄影逐渐滑向抽象与虚空的境地之时，塔将他重新拉回这个真实的世界。

429所在的地区，由于妙应寺的存在，也一直被称为白塔寺地区。白塔深深刻印在人们的每一个生活场景里。在这里，展示讲述这些年代形制各异的古塔，也有了一种穿越时空和地域的对话。

Shu Lin begun to focus on shooting program of pagoda in 2017.

He is seeking for pagodas around China at his spare time and working time. It’s a process of reflection and re-recognition for him. He felt lost and confused these days. Pagoda guides the way to find the real world.

Because of the White pagoda of Miaoying Temple, this area is called BAITASI (White pagoda) in general. The White pagoda was embedded in people’s daily life scenes and memories. The photos of different pagodas exhibition is a conversation of passing through time and space.

1981年出生于福建，毕业于集美大学艺术学院油画系，结业于广州美术学院油画系，现居北京。

Lin Shu (b.1981) is a freelance photographer from Fujian Province. He studied oil painting the Art Institute of Jimei University () and from 2006 to 2009 worked as a press photographer for Modern Weekly and Urban China magazines. In 2009 he moved to Beijing and turned freelance. In 2011 he held a solo exhibition entitled Toxic at Zen Gallery, in Tokyo. In the same year he participated in Tokyo Photo 2011: Charity. He has also exhibited at the Lianzhou International Photography Festival 2010; Tora Tora Tora Chinese Cutting Edge Photography at the Caochangdi PhotoSpring festival 2010; the Three Shadows Photography Award Exhibition (2009), and the Pingyao International 几年间多次上门调查此事、约谈当事人Photography Festival (2005, 2006). In 2009 he won Best Newcomer at the Three Shadows Photography Awards. His work was profiled in 25 Cutting-edge Chinese Photographers (Zhejiang Photography Press, 2010) and Chinese-language publications including Modern Weekly, Vision and Chinese Photography.

Artist Statement

面对摄影，我有太多难以理清的思绪，我曾像一个摄影原教旨主义者，认为存在某种至高无上不可动摇的唯一真理，而我要做的是将这真理显现。

在过往的创作中，我一直将“摄影”作为首要甚至是唯一的出发点，以期于去接近那个真理，而所有事物都只为服从这个理念，我从未真正通过摄影去关注一件事物。

拍塔之初，我同样出于这样的思考方式，仅仅希望用“塔”去帮助我实现对摄影的理解，这样的方式或许无可厚非但一定有失偏颇，而在拍塔的过程中我被一点点引领，随着对塔的兴趣与日俱增，我开始反思与修正自己对摄影的认识和方法，并追问自己究竟为何摄影？

摄影最初对我来说是一件打开自己，去面对这个世界，去和外物沟通与交流的工具和手段，它是我对这个世界的爱和热情。但当我彻底投进摄影，却逐渐远离初衷，一心想要追逐自认为的更加深刻和本质的抽象意义却陷于虚无。

拍塔让我再次回到了对物的关注，对记录性的释怀，让我回到了与这个世界保持联系，抱有好奇的状态。去看这个世界才是摄影最大的意义，而记录下这一切是摄影天然的本质属性，无论如今的摄影是否刻意的规避或排斥这一点。这也让我联想到在摄影术诞生之初那些怀揣梦想，热情搜集世界每一个角落的早期摄影师，我希望像他们一样，以更单纯的目光，更笨拙的方式，不合时宜的望向塔。

我们在大部分的城市或者寺庙都能看到塔，很多已经成为各个城市的标志。其实，塔本来是个舶来品，随着佛教传入我国。在我国近两千年的演变后，整体演变过程有着全面迎合大众的趋势，功能、形式和意义也极大丰富。现场分享塔演变背后的故事。

We could see pagoda in most cities or temples, and many have become the landmarks of cities. In fact, the pagoda was originally an imported product, and it was introduced to China with Buddhism. After nearly two thousand years of evolution, the pagoda has a tendency to fully cater to the public. Its functions, forms and meanings are also extremely rich. The speaker will share some of the stories behind the evolution of the pagoda.
